Aches and Pains

Our muscles do a tremendous job supporting our frame and helping us to move. We have to treat them with kindness, keeping them exercised and relaxed. I think I've forgotten how to do the last part of that. Oh my aching back!!!!! Anyone got a degree in massage therapy? A heating pad? Oh ... will I ever learn?

Smiles

I love to smile and laugh. I've been dubbed "Smiley" and "Sunshine" by a number of different people over the years because I smile so much. A smile can brighten someone's day. It makes me feel good when I can make someone smile. It makes me feel good when someone makes me smile. I particularly like it when they can make me smile from the inside out. That is the best kind of smile.

I hope to someday have someone I can make smile from the inside out and who can do the same for me. Someone who makes me incredibly happy and who I can make happy in return. After all, that is what life is supposed to be like: living, loving, and laughing together in harmony.

Smile! It is very contagious.

Toddlers

Today on the bus ride home, I shared the bus with 3 toddlers. One was 4.5, one was 3 and the other was just over a year old. What an adventure. The 3 year old was a sweet little girl. She was good as gold and eventually fell asleep on her mother's shoulder.

The 4.5 year old was fairly quiet and keep telling his year-old brother to shhhhh. Well ... that little fella just loved to hear his own voice. He kept screaming, and screaming, and screaming half of the way home. The more his mother told him to shhh, the more he screamed. He eventually stopped and settled down. I think his throat must have gotten sore and his ears started ringing. I know mine were. If there is one thing I have trouble coping with, it is a crying or screaming baby. I want them to be happy!!

I have one question, though. WHO THE HECK TEACHES LITTLE KIDS TO PICK THEIR NOSE!!! That 4.5 year old had his finger stuck in his everytime I looked his way. I thought at one point I saw his elbow disappear. Oh my goodness, little kids can be so gross!!!

How was your drive home from work?

Winter-Is-a-Comin'

The colder weather is on its way. I love the crisp morning air, but I'm not fond of going to work in the dark. It makes it really hard to wake up.

Tonight I brought out my winter clothes and put away the summer things. Some of those things I have decided to part with. I would part with a lot more of them if it were easier to replace them with something more up to date. I did manage, however, to part with a few more things. Off to Big Brothers they will go for those who are less fortunate.

It makes me feel good to give things away like that. Although I struggle for a lot of what I have, there are others who do not have even this much. If I can help in this small way, I will. I don't believe in having yard sales. It is a lot of work for little profit. I would much sooner give it away to someone who needs it. Sure, I would sell big ticket items, but not the little stuff. It makes no sense to me.

Well, I guess I am ready for fall anyway. Now just to get some protectant for my leather coat and boots, then I will be set for the weather to come. Are you ready for the cold and snow?

Iraq

  • The garden of Eden was in Iraq.
  • Noah built the ark in Iraq.
  • The Tower of Babel was in Iraq.
  • Daniel was in the lion's den in Iraq!
  • The wise men were from Iraq.

Israel is the nation most often mentioned in the Bible. But do you know which nation is second? It is Iraq! However, that is not the name that is used in the Bible. The names used in the Bible are Babylon, Land of Shinar, and Mesopotamia. The word Mesopotamia means between the two rivers, more exactly between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers. The name Iraq, means country with deep roots. Indeed Iraq is a country with deep roots and is a very significant country in the Bible.

And also ... This is something to think about! Since America is typically represented by an eagle. Saddam should have read up on his Muslim passages ...

The following verse is from the Koran, (the Islamic Bible)

Koran (9:11) — For it is written that a son of Arabia would awaken a fearsome Eagle. The wrath of the Eagle would be felt throughout the lands of Allah and lo, while some of the people trembled in despair still more rejoiced; for the wrath of the Eagle cleansed the lands of Allah; and there was peace.

Note the verse number! (9:11)

The Truth about Dieting

The Facts:

Q: I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life. Is this true?

A: Your heart is only good for so many beats, and that's it...don't waste them on exercise. Everything wears out eventually. Speeding up your heart will not make you live longer; that's like saying you can extend the life of your car by driving it faster. Want to live longer? Take a nap.

Q: Should I cut down on meat and eat more fruits and vegetables?

A: You must grasp logistical efficiencies. What does a cow eat? Hay and corn. And what are these? Vegetables. So a steak is nothing more than an efficient mechanism of delivering vegetables to your system. Need grain? Eat chicken. Beef is also a good source of field grass (green leafy vegetable). And a pork chop can give you 100% of your recommended daily allowance of vegetable products.

Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake?

A: No, not at all. Wine is made from fruit. Brandy is distilled wine, that means they take the water out of the fruity bit so you get even more of the goodness that way. Beer is also made out of grain. Bottoms up!

Q: How can I calculate my body/fat ratio?

A: Well, if you have a body and you have body fat, your ratio is one to one. If you have two bodies, your ratio is two to one, etc.

Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise program?

A: Can't think of a single one, sorry. My philosophy is: No Pain...Good

Q: Aren't fried foods bad for you?

A: YOU'RE NOT LISTENING!!!. Foods are fried these days in vegetable oil. In fact, they're permeated in it. How could getting more vegetables be bad for you?

Q: Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft around the middle?

A: Definitely not! When you exercise a muscle, it gets bigger. You should only be doing sit-ups if you want a bigger stomach.

Q: Is chocolate bad for me?

A: Are you crazy? HELLO ...... Cocoabeans ... another vegetable!!! It's the best feel-good food around!

Q: Is swimming good for your figure?

A: If swimming is good for your figure, explain whales to me.

Q: Is getting in-shape important for my lifestyle?

A: Hey! "Round" is a shape!

Well, I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had about food and diets.

Tongue Twister

If a bra is an upper topper titty flopper stopper, and a jock strap is a lower decker pecker hecker, and a roll of toilet tissue is a super duper doody pooper scooper, what do you call a Japanese drummer boy whose father has diarrhea?

Life

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand, strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "WOO HOO!! What a Ride!" — Author Unknown

Yep, that's the way I see it. That's the way I want my life to be. How about you?

A Few Funnies

Here are a few funnies for you. I won't put the male/female bashing ones up here though. I don't really like those ones. I don't believe we are all the same.

  • What's the difference between a porcupine and a BMW? A porcupine has the pr*cks on the outside.
  • What is the biggest problem for an atheist? No one to talk to during orgasm.
  • Which sexual position produces the ugliest children? Ask your Mum.
  • How do you know when you're leading a sad life? When a nymphomaniac tells you, "Lets just be friends."
  • Why don't bunnies make noise when they have sex? Because they have cotton balls.
  • What does a 75-year-old woman have between her breasts? Her navel.
  • What has a whole bunch of little balls and screws old ladies? A bingo machine.
  • What three two-letter words mean small?"Is it in?" (No man wants to hear that!!)
  • Did you hear about the Chinese couple who had a mentally-challenged baby? They named him Sum Ting Wong.
  • When a woman steals your husband, there is no better revenge than to let her keep him.
  • Young son: Is it true Dad, that in some parts of Africa a man doesn't know his wife until he marries her? Dad: That happens in every country, son. (Women can be mysterious.)

Giving Thanks

On this Thanksgiving weekend, I have much to be thankful for. I give thanks for
  • faith in a world where fear abounds
  • food in a world where many go hungry
  • shelter in a world where many are homeless
  • family in a world where many are orphaned and alone
  • my children who I love dearly
  • the special people in my life who have touched my heart and soul in ways they cannot imagine
  • the friends who give me strength and comfort when I need it most
  • employment when many have no source of income
  • love, which makes the impossible seem possible
  • sex as a means of expressing deep, passionate love in its truest form
  • the struggles in my life that helped me grow strong and to define who I am today
I want to thank you, my friends, for all you have done for me. Those things are more plentiful than you may know, and very much appreciated. Happy Thanksgiving to you all.

An Interesting Twist

Selfishness, we are told, involves putting our own needs above those of others. We are, we are informed, selfless when we put the needs of others above our own. But what about the others? If they allow us to be selfless on their behalf, aren't they being selfish?

Now think about that.

I Wish You Enough ...

I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright.

I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun more.

I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive.

I wish you enough pain so that the smallest joys in life appear much bigger.

I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.

I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.

I wish you enough hellos to get you through the final goodbye.

Today would have been my father's birthday. I am thankful that I had enough of these things so that my final goodbye to him was peaceful. As he lay in his hospital bed at death's door, I gently leaned over and kissed his cheek and said goodbye confident that we would meet again some day.

To all my friends and loved ones ... I wish you enough ...

Time Flies? Or Does It Crawl?

Have you ever noticed that when you are waiting for something exciting, time seems to stand still?

Have you ever noticed that when you have so much you feel you need to do rather quickly that time seems to fly by and you can't get it all done? You have run out of time.

Have you ever noticed that as you get older, time seems to go by quicker? You begin to wonder where the years went.

No matter what we do, we cannot make time fly or drag by. There are still just 60 seconds in every minute, 60 minutes in every hour, and 24 hours in a day. No more; no less.

How much of life we miss by wishing time away. I know. I am also guilty of this by times. You want things to hurry up or slow down to suit your needs. I guess perhaps we just need to have more realistic views of the time it takes to accomplish things. The journey is just as wonderful a part as the destination. Let's try to take time to smell the coffee (or flowers, as you wish).

Sunday Shopping

There will soon be a plebiscite here to vote on Sunday shopping. I'm sure there are many who will vote for it, and many who will not. It depends on your perspective and beliefs. These are the things that come to my mind when I consider Sunday shopping:
  • Why do we need an extra 5 hours of shopping in a week? We already have 72 hours.
  • When do the employees get their chance to rest?
  • When do families get time when they can all get together if they are off busy running errands?
  • What about those employees who don't want to work Sundays? Will they be forced to?
  • What about those business owners that want a day of rest with their families? When will they get it?
  • Will businesses actually make money by being open an extra 5 hours a week or will their overhead actually increase?
Is it a selfish request to want to add an extra 5 hours of shopping to our weeks? What if the next step is that your business is open on Sundays and you are required to work? Would your vote be different then?

Women over 40—by Andy Rooney

Here is a piece written by Andy Rooney of CBS 60 Minutes. I believe he speaks a great deal of truth here. Most of this is the norm of 40+ women. However, not all of us fit into each of these statements, but we do for at least some of them. Guess which ones are me.

*********

As I grow in age, I value women who are over forty most of all. Here are just a few reasons why:

A woman over forty will not lay next to you in bed and ask, "What are you thinking?" She doesn't care what you think.

If a woman over forty doesn't want to watch the game, she doesn't sit around whining about it. She does something she wants to do. And, it's usually something more interesting.

A woman over forty knows herself well enough to be assured in who she is, what she is, what she wants and from whom. Few women past the age of forty give a damn what you might think about her or what she's doing.

Women over forty are dignified. They seldom have a screaming match with you at the opera or in the middle of an expensive restaurant. Of course, if you deserve it, they won't hesitate to shoot you, if they think they can get away with it.

Older women are generous with praise, often undeserved. They know what it's like to be unappreciated.

A woman over forty has the self-assurance to introduce you to her women friends. A younger woman with a man will often ignore even her best friend because she doesn't trust the guy with other women. Women over forty couldn't care less if you're attracted to her friends because she knows her friends won't betray her.

Women get psychic as they age. You never have to confess your sins to a woman over forty. They always know.

A woman over forty looks good wearing bright red lipstick. This is not true of younger women or drag queens.

Once you get past a wrinkle or two, a woman over forty is far sexier than her younger counterpart.

Older women are forthright and honest. They'll tell you right off if you are a jerk or if you are acting like one! You don't ever have to wonder where you stand with her.

Yes, we praise women over forty for a multitude of reasons. Unfortunately, it's not reciprocal. For every stunning, smart, well-coiffed hot woman of forty-plus, there is a bald, paunchy relic in yellow pants making a fool of himself with some eighteen-year-old waitress. Ladies, I apologize.

For all those men who say, "Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free." Here's an update for you. Nowadays 80% of women are against marriage, why? Because women realize it's not worth buying an entire pig, just to get a little sausage.
